Cania Gorge - 4th to 9th April 2023

2nd trip away, this time to Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat in the week leading up to Easter. Had another great time away in the Xplorer, and very comfortable. Great walks & both birdlife & other nature in abundance. Loving this for our travels.

Cania Gorge National Park is located in the North Burnett Region of Queensland, Australia, approximately 500 km by road from Brisbane. The closest town to Cania Gorge is Monto, which is approximately 20 km away. The Gorge is a beautiful natural attraction & is known for its stunning sandstone cliffs making it a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and hikers. The gorge is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna and a variety of bird species. Visitors can explore the many walking trails and scenic lookout points to take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside.

We stayed at the Cania Gorge Tourist Retreat which is just outside the National Park entrance. The retreat offers a range of accommodation options, including cabins, powered & unpowered camping sites, making it a great option for a base camp. The retreat is situated on over 200 acres of parkland and features a range of facilities and activities for guests to enjoy, including a swimming pool, amenities and camp kitchen. It is also not far to Lake Cania, which is a popular spot for fishing and boating. We were able to catch a few redclaw lobsters in our pots which made a delicious feed when cooked on the BBQ.

Overall, Cania Gorge is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the natural beauty of Queensland and immerse themselves in the great outdoors.
